Write for Urbanoticias
Urbanoticias is read by people who follow Spanish cities closely: residents, buyers and sellers, small developers, architects, planners and journalists who need a clear account of what is changing on the ground. They come to us for property news, urban policy and the everyday texture of city life across Spain, and they read in Spanish and English. If you want to write for us, you are writing for an audience that notices when a detail is wrong.
A contribution puts your knowledge in front of that audience under your own name, with a short biography if you want one. Our readers are practical. They reward pieces that explain a market, a neighbourhood, a rule change or a building, and they ignore pieces that only repeat a press release.
What we publish
- Property news and analysis: prices, rents, mortgages, new developments and the rules that shape them.
- Urban policy and planning: housing law, licences, transport, public space and the decisions taken by town halls.
- City and neighbourhood reporting from anywhere in Spain, including the smaller cities that rarely get covered.
- Architecture and the built environment, from single buildings to large regeneration schemes.
- Data work on housing, population, tourism and mobility, provided the sources are shown.
- Practical guides for buyers, tenants, landlords and owners, written by people who know the process.
Guest posts and sponsored articles
We accept contributed editorial and sponsored placements. A guest post is written by you and edited by us; a sponsored post is paid for by a company or organisation and is published on the same terms. Both are permanent and indexed, and both are read by the same audience. Editorial links in contributed articles are dofollow. Sponsored posts are disclosed where required by law or by the platform, and we will not remove that disclosure. Pricing is on request, and we can usually agree a topic, a fee and a publication date within three to five working days. We do not publish content that exists only to carry links.
Guidelines
- Original and unpublished work. We do not republish pieces that have appeared elsewhere, including on your own site.
- 800 words or more, in clear British or Spanish prose, with a headline and subheadings.
- One or two relevant links. More than that and we will cut them.
- No gambling, adult or pharmaceutical content, and nothing that promotes financial products we cannot verify.
- An author bio is optional. If you send one, keep it to two sentences.
- We edit for house style, length and accuracy. We may ask for sources or figures before publication.
Before you send anything, read a few recent articles. Our contributor guidelines are the list above, and they apply to every piece we run.
How to pitch
Email guestpost@urbanoticias.com with the subject line "Guest post: <topic>". Include a short outline of what you intend to cover, roughly how long it will be, and a link to past work or a published sample. If you already have a draft, send it as plain text or a document, not as a PDF. We read everything and reply to pitches we can use, usually within a week. If you would rather submit an article in full, that is fine too. Write to guestpost@urbanoticias.com and put the topic in the subject line so it reaches the right desk.
Pitches, drafts and questions about sponsored posts all go to the same address: guestpost@urbanoticias.com. Tell us who you are, what you want to write, and why our readers would care. We look forward to hearing from you.
